Job Description

As the Curriculum and Instruction Early Childhood, Assistant Professor you will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as applicable; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Early Intervention, or closely related field from a regionally/nationally accredited institution or equivalent

Three years of experience teaching in PK-3rd grade and/or relevant early childhood teacher education experience.

ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 7, 2018. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.

Preferred Qualifications

PK-3rd grade teacher certification.

Recent experience in public school teaching (PreK-3rd grade) experience in the United States or USA school located overseas.

OR, three years (3) of teaching experience in infant, toddler, and/or preschool settings.

Holds a current and active research agenda in the field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.

Essential Job Duties

Teaches courses in the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral program in the College of Education.

Supervises student teachers; advises students; and conducts research.

Engages in active service to the department, college, and University and maintains an active agenda of scholarly activities according to Boyer’s principles of scholarly research, and service to community, college, university and department.

Collaborates with the community; and secures external funding.

Assists in recruiting and retention of students;

Participates in accreditation activities.
