Job Description

The Coordinator, Loans & Employment Programs handles all aspects and activities related to the processing of undergraduate, graduate, and parent educational loans, including federal and private loan programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Two years of experience in financial aid, student services, or admissions.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) software.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Four years of financial aid experience in higher education environment.

Experience with Ellucian (Banner) or other automated financial aid systems (EdConnect).

Experience with Access.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of Department of Education rules and regulations.

Knowledge of community college and high school curriculum requirements.

Ability to research and resolve student financial aid issues; plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; and work independent of direct supervision.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the campus community.

Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to a team environment.

Excellent communication skills demonstrated both orally and in writing.

Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures.

Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism.

Salary Range $43,000 - $45,000

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties

•Handles all aspects and activities related to the processing of undergraduate, graduate, and parent educational loans, including federal and private loan programs.

•Manages loan origination, adjustments, reconciliation, disbursements, rejections, and eligibility issues associated with the loan programs.

•Participates in the maintenance and testing of loan processing software upgrades, patches, and institutionally developed automated processes.

•Reviews and interprets system reports to determine problem loan records and assists in resolving discrepancies related to student grade levels, financial aid budgets, enrollment status, student type, and over awards.

•Makes loan awards and adjustments using the University’s financial aid system in strict adherence to federal regulations and institutional policy.

•Compiles reports and analyzes financial aid loan data as needed.

•Transmits loan data to Department of Education using EdConnect.

•Assists in the training of all financial aid office staff on loan issues.

•Coordinates and manages all student employment programs including FWS and FWEP.

•Educates the University community regarding policies and procedures for student employees and supervisors.

•Works closely with departments to determine need for student employment positions.

•Conducts information and training sessions to assist supervisors with the hiring process.

•Adheres to all federal regulations for student employment. Monitors, tracks, and reconciles all Federal and State employment funding.

•Serves as backup to all other financial aid areas and programs.

•Distribution of checks, direct deposits, and wires.
